Baby Baluga...

She was singing it around the house this morning and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to record her sweet little voice, with backup vocals by Alice. And she did it without a fight!!!

Another story I should've shared a month ago, but didn't, involved speaking in church, Jane, and a safety pin. Normally I don't like speaking in church and I have a hard time preparing, well I got asked to speak in August and was excited about the topic, Forgiveness. I sat down the night before and put together an outline of talks, scriptures, and thoughts. I was ready. Sunday morning was a typical morning. I was changing the last diapers in order to get out the door. As I layed Jane down to change her stinky diaper, she had a safety pin in her mouth. She likes to chew/suck on things, so it was a common thing. I wasn't worried. Well, all of a sudden she started gagging, so I picked her up really quick, while trying not to get poop on anything. She got this scared look on her face. I asked, "Did you swallow it?"
"Yes"
"Does it hurt?"
"Yes"
"Drink some water"
"NOOOOOO!"
I watched her for a minute, finished the diaper change, and then she was fine. I almost just packed up the girls and put them in the car. Then I started to get worried, what if something happens, what's the correct protocol on swallowing things, does the doctor need to know? So I called the ask a nurse. I reasurred her that is was closed (I'd seen it in her mouth, knew she was chewing on it, I'm a good mom I know). The nurse said to take her to the ER.
I called Kevin at church, but he did not answer, so I quickly called some friends headed to church and asked them to tell Kevin I was headed to the doctor's office and what had happened.
So, Jane got 2 x-rays (confirming the safety pin was there and it was closed). And we headed to church. We made it in time for the musical number and the final speaker. He ended with time to spare. I thought, I can shorten my talk, no sweat! Then it's done. But the Stake President thought I'd had enough to deal with that day and spoke in my place.
Jane was fine and the safety pin passed the next day, much to my relief. When I told Jane the safety pin was out, she said, "I got my money back!" It's the little excitements in life really.
I got to give my talk last Sunday and it went just fine, although rereading my notes from earlier was a little tough, good thing I looked at them the night before. We're all doing great and Jane has a slightly better understanding of the whole digestive track process. Fun times!

That was so sweet watching Jane sing that song! We were out of town when the whole safety pin thing happened, but we heard about it! I'm so glad everything turned out fine and that she didn't get hurt.
